Marc Storey's Story:  London Marathon 2012
I have a brother two years younger than me with Prader Willi syndrome, and where I grew up in East Kent there was (and still is) not enough respite care for parents who have children with disabilities.

I volunteered for Pegasus for 4 years and my brother attended Pegasus for several more years. We both found those summer experiences to be rewarding and enriching.
I’m proud that ING Bank has given me the opportunity this year to fundraise for them at the London marathon.
I used to be fairly sporty - weren't we all - until I went to university and became overcome with beer induced inertia (save the odd game of touch rugby - ahem) and started carbo-loading like a man possessed in the hope of one day partaking in something like a.... marathon.
City living has indirectly helped me remain slow and lethargic (good internet access, close to many pubs, etc) - but a challenge like the marathon seemed too good to refuse... For those that know me, I'm not a runner - rather a (flat) road (pub) cyclist. Whilst training hasn't been easy (for a 100kg beetroot) - I am getting into it, and I hope to actually enjoy the race itself.
The Big One.
42km

It's a long long way to SW1
I hope to complete it all in one day. You'll see me dressed as a box of Morleys Fried Chicken whistling Dixie and juggling corn on the cobs. Event date: 22-April-2012 09:00 - 22-April-2012 21:00

About Pegasus Playscheme

We provide a 3 week summer playscheme offering activities for 65 children with complex disabilities and severe learning difficulties, with help from over 70 local teenage volunteers who provide one to one support. We have four groups of children aged 8yrs to 21yrs and split them into age appropriate groups.

We are able to do this by hiring 4 mini-buses ensuring all children participate in leisure activities, keeping healthy in mind and body.

We go Sailing, Bowling, Swimming, Canoeing, Cinema, Crazy golf and off the children and volunteers a rewarding three weeks.

We offer a safe environment for children of all abilities to enjoy a fun packed summer to remember.
